General
What is Koda?
Koda is your expert AI Cycling Coach, designed to take the guesswork out of your training. Unlike static training plans, Koda behaves like a real coach by:
- Interactive Deep-Dive: Koda gets to know your biology (FTP, HR), your lifestyle (work, family), and your specific equipment.
- Goal-Specific Intelligence: Planning an event like the Amstel Gold Race or a 160km gravel event? Koda can analyze GPX files or even search the web for event details (climb profiles, technicality) to tailor your workouts specifically to that course.
- True Adaptivity: Koda checks your recovery metrics (HRV, Sleep) and daily form (Fscore) every morning. If you're tired or life gets in the way, Koda automatically adjusts your schedule.
- Performance Tracking: Through the proprietary Koda Fscore, you can track your growth from a recreational rider to an elite amateur racer.
Koda is the link between your data and your breakthrough performance.
What is the Koda Fscore?
The Koda Fscore is a proprietary performance ranking that translates your fitness (CTL) and consistency into a single score. It ranges from Beginner to Elite and is designed to be non-linear, meaning it gets progressively harder to increase your score as you reach higher levels of fitness.
What if I miss a workout?
Koda is an empathic and adaptive coach. If life gets busy and you miss a session, don't worry! Koda will check your recovery and upcoming schedule to adjust your plan so you stay on track without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. No guilt, just smart adjustments.
How do I create a training plan??
Creating a training plan in Koda is a collaborative process to ensure it fits your life:
- Interactive Interview: Koda starts with a deep-dive interview about your biology (FTP, HR), your current fitness levels, and your daily lifestyle.
- Personalization: You define your maximum weekly training hours and specify which days are for long rides, high intensity, or rest based on your work and family commitments.
- Goal-Focused Logic: Whether it's a specific gravel race or just building base fitness, Koda adjusts the plan for you.
- Event Intelligence: Upload a GPX route or simply name your event. Koda can find course details online (climbing profiles, surface types) and tailor your workouts to specifically prepare you for those demands.
The result is not a generic template, but a living and breathing plan that is uniquely yours. [SHOW_INPUT] to start your own plan today!

Technical
How does Koda prepare me for a specific event?
Koda uses a specialized Course-Aware Strategy to ensure your training mimics the demands of your race:
- GPX Analysis: Upload a route file, and Koda will detect climbs, technicality, and gradients.
- Online Event Search: Simply name your event (e.g., Amstel Gold Race or Gravel One Fifty). Koda can find course details online (climb profiles, surface types) even without a GPX file.
- Tailored Workouts: Koda automatically adjusts your training plan based on these findings. Expect extra torque-building sessions for steep climbs or technical handling intervals for tight turns.
Your training isn't just about power; it's about preparation for the terrain.
What is Koda Play?
Koda Play is Koda's integrated workout player, designed to guide you through every session with precision.
- How to start: You can launch Koda Play directly from the Training Calendar. Look for the blue "Koda Play!" button on any planned workout.
- Indoor Cycling: For indoor rides (available on Android and Desktop), Koda Play connects via Bluetooth to your smart trainer. The player controls the trainer using ERG mode based on your planned workout, allowing you to focus entirely on your cadence while Koda handles the resistance.
- Strength & Core: For the strength, core, and weight training sessions in your plan (available on iOS, Android, and Desktop), Koda Play acts as an interactive guide. It takes you through the exercises, sets, and rest periods step-by-step, ensuring you stay on track with your strength goals.
Sessions performed with Koda Play are automatically recorded and uploaded to your account, ensuring your training history is always complete.
I can't find the Koda Coach app in the App Store or Google Play Store. Why?
Koda Coach is a Progressive Web App (PWA). This means the app runs directly in your browser and doesn't need to be downloaded from a traditional app store. However, you can easily install Koda as an 'app' on your phone's home screen for a native experience.
- Android: Navigate to Settings > General within Koda for specific instructions, or use the 'Install app' option in your browser menu.
- iOS (iPhone/iPad): In Safari, tap the 'Share' icon (the square with the upward arrow) and select 'Add to Home Screen'.
What does Koda do with health data from smartwatches and trackers?
Koda takes a holistic approach to coaching by integrating health and recovery data from your smartwatch or fitness tracker (such as Garmin, Oura, Whoop, Apple Health, and others). This data is used to provide a complete picture of your 'readiness' and to adapt your training plan accordingly:
- Wellness Monitoring: Koda analyzes trends in your Resting Heart Rate (RHR), Heart Rate Variability (HRV), and Sleep quality. If these metrics show signs of accumulated fatigue or insufficient recovery, Koda will proactively suggest downgrading or moving high-intensity sessions to prevent overreaching.
- Menstrual Cycle Awareness: For female athletes, Koda can take the menstrual phase into account. Since hormonal changes affect recovery rates, temperature, and aerobic capacity, Koda can adjust the intensity and volume of your workouts to align with your cycle for optimal performance and well-being.
- Stress Correlation: By comparing your daily health data with your training load, Koda identifies if non-training stress (work, life) is impacting your performance, helping you find the perfect balance between 'grit' and 'rest'.
Privacy & Data Storage:
Importantly, Koda does not store your raw health or medical data in its own central database. The data is processed in real-time to provide coaching insights. The only place where this information is preserved is within the secure and encrypted history of your personal chat conversations with Koda. Your health data is treated with the highest level of privacy and is used exclusively to make your training plan safer and more effective.

How do the AI budgets work in Koda?
To provide high-quality, personalized coaching, Koda utilizes advanced AI language models. This process involves variable costs measured in 'AI Tokens'. To keep the subscription price fixed and fair, Koda uses a balanced budget management system:
- The Monthly Budget: This is your personal limit for AI interactions. Once depleted, analytics and dashboards remain accessible, but chatting and generating new workouts will be paused until the next cycle.
- Daily and Weekly Safeguards: Koda applies 'soft limits' per day and week to help you manage your monthly allowance. These act as a safeguard to prevent early depletion.
- Control & Flexibility: If you have a day with many questions, you can manually override the daily or weekly limits via the budget widget located at the bottom left of the sidebar.
- Efficiency Tip: Long, continuous chat sessions consume more tokens as the AI processes the entire history for every response. For better resource management, it is more efficient to start a new chat when switching topics. Koda will occasionally provide reminders to help you optimize your budget.
Connections
How do I sync my workouts?
Syncing your training is a two-step process to ensure flexibility:
- Generation & Planning: Workouts from your training plan are not all generated and placed on the calendar immediately. This is because real life often requires plan adjustments. You can see your full training plan in the Koda Calendar, where you'll see which sessions are 'planned' (confirmed) and which are still waiting to be generated.
- Push to Devices: Once a workout is planned (either through the calendar or by asking Koda directly), it appears on your Intervals.icu calendar. From there, it is automatically pushed to your bike computer (Garmin, Wahoo, Hammerhead) or training platform (Zwift, Rouvy, MyWhoosh).
This way, you only have the actual, relevant workouts on your devices when you need them.
Which devices are supported?
Koda supports a wide range of devices and platforms to ensure seamless integration:
- Bike Computers & Watches: Garmin (Connect), Wahoo, Hammerhead (Karoo), Suunto, Coros, Polar, Amazfit, and Huawei Health.
- Indoor Platforms: Zwift, Rouvy, MyWhoosh, and Biketerra.
- Wellness & Recovery: Whoop, Oura, Google Fit, Apple Health, Garmin Wellness, and Amazfit.
- Hardware: Concept2 and Wattbike (via Strava).
- Extra Services: Strava (for ride import) and Dropbox.
Your devices sync through the Koda engine (powered by Intervals.icu), ensuring your data is always up-to-date across all platforms.
Is an Intervals.icu connection required?
Yes, an Intervals.icu connection is mandatory for using Koda. Intervals is the engine that collects your data from Garmin, Wahoo, Zwift, and other devices, making it accessible for Koda's AI analysis. You can set this up easily in Settings > Intervals.icu.
Are other sports supported?
While Koda's core expertise is in cycling, she also supports multi-sport training:
- Running & Swimming: These workouts are generated using Native Intervals.icu Syntax (distance/time) for accurate display on your Garmin or other wearables.
- Strength & Calisthenics: These sessions use rep-based syntax to guide your performance.
- Hiking & Other: Any workout can be added to your plan as a recovery session or cross-training.
All sports contribute to your overall Fscore and training load.
How do I sync my historical training data (CTL/Fitness) from Intervals.icu?
To ensure an accurate Fitness and Freshness chart (PMC) and Koda Fscore, Koda requires your historical training data (usually at least 90 days). If your chart looks incomplete or your Fitness (CTL) seems too low, follow these steps:
1. Log in to your Intervals.icu account in a web browser.
2. Navigate to 'Settings' and locate ALL your primary data sources (e.g., Garmin Connect, Wahoo, Zwift). Note: If you use Strava as your source, this only makes sense if you have also established the Strava connection within the Koda settings.
3. Click the 'Download Old Data' button and select a start date at least 90 to 180 days in the past. Wait for Intervals.icu to process the import.
4. Once the historical activities are visible on your Intervals.icu calendar, open the Koda Coach app.
5. Go to 'Settings' > 'Intervals.icu' tab.
6. Scroll to the bottom and click the button 'Download History (100 days)' to sync this data into your Koda profile.
